One of the alternatives to taking your car is the train. The Czech Republic has one of the densest railway networks in Europe, and Brno is an important rail junction situated on the Balkan-Budapest-Prague-Berlin-Scandinavia rail route. All EuroCity trains stop here. Both trains and buses are reliable. A comprehensive system for looking up departures of trains and buses all around the Czech Republic can be found here.
The Central railway station is located in the centre of Brno, a few minutes’ walk from the historic centre.
To get to Brno by train, you will first need to get to Prague’s Main Railway Station (Praha - Hlavní nádraží).
You can check the train schedules online here. The yellow ‘buy’ button (KUP!) will redirect you to the e-shops of the most bus and railway companies.
You can also travel from Vienna Main Train Station (Wien Hauptbahnhof) to Brno. The trains are direct and the journey takes you approximately one and a half hours. You can change in station Břeclav as well.
